POEM BY JOSEPH ROSS

This is the first time (that a know of) where a poem was written, inspired by one of my murals. Enjoy!

                                    If only America’s roof
                                    could keep out the cold

                                    the way colors sometimes
                                    can, the artist’s brush

                                    might tower over
                                    the world like God or

                                    God’s mother, awaiting
                                    not worship or gold

                                    but use. The brush gripped
to splash the color of light

in the shape of a broken
                                    life. Good and evil,

                                    the saliva of God, wait
                                    impatiently to mix with

                                    the hue of open eyes,
                                    the color of coffee,

                                    the shade of an impatient
                                    country where some are never

                                    at home. The artist finally
                                    arrives at the color

                                    of a wall’s destiny:
                                    every rich man’s wall re-born

                                    with a poor man’s face.

LACMA DOCENTS: GRAFF TOUR

So last week I led another one of my LA graffiti tours that I organize for private and corporate groups.  This time I was contacted by LACMA Docents and I put together a 2 hour tour for the group which was about 60 people deep!

We met up in DTLA and I showed them some of the nice productions by crews like CBS, MSK, K2S and artists like Risky, How/Nosm, and Mr. Cartoon.

I explained to the group some of the basic terms and philosophies of graffiti and street art.  They had some excellent questions and were blown away by so much art that they had never seen or experienced so intimately.

We wrapped up the tour back at my studio where I showed them some of my paintings, old and new.

Proof that graff and street art are not only for the young, but the young at heart!

If you would like to have a tour for your group or company just contact me and we'll make it happen!

BON JOVI MURAL

I was recently commissioned by Staples Center to create a mural for rock band Bon Jovi to welcome them to Los Angeles for their sold out concert on April 19, 2013.

I integrated their iconic logo bursting out of a brick wall with a Bon Jovi piece on it. Nothing too crazy, just something fun and simple, with DTLA buildings silhouetted in the background.

Best part is I got to keep the canvas.

So if you're in the market for a 10'x14' canvas with your favorite band Bon Jovi graffitied across it, then lets talk!

Here's the final result, enjoy the pics and videos.

MAN ONE DIGITAL BILLBOARD

Short video of my billboard:

The digital billboard above the Key Club on Sunset in West Hollywood is showing off some cool public art amongst the movie ads and other stuff being promoted.

Every few seconds it shows different artwork from LA artists like Saber, Rick Robinson, Miripolsky and others.

This cropped image of my "Fierce Beauty" piece (which will be on auction later this month) is one of several pieces which will be randomly rotated over the next few months.

So next time you pass by take a look up at the lights!
